Our Shooters
All of our members at present shoot sub twelve foot pound air rifles, a weapon with an accurate kill range for vermin up to forty yards (dependant on the shooter). In our opinion this enables the shooter to be able to shoot more vermin such as rabbits, squirrels and corvids as the backdrop is not as essential as live round as the pellet does not travel for hundreds of meters. By using air weapons and a single shot kill the quarry can also be eaten and therefore will not be wasted (rats of course being the exception!).
The members of Shoot-Watch have been known to us in the shop and are all vetted by us for discipline and attitude towards hunting. The members do care about safe shooting, effective kills, no suffering for their target and of course respect for the permission that we have to shoot vermin on other peoples land. Any new member of the syndicate will need to be known to us for a minimum of one month in the shop and will need to demonstrate their level of skill with their air gun. They will also be asked to accompany at least two members not known to them on a shoot and demonstrate respect for the permission and their quarry and be voted in by the members. This is to ensure that we only select the highest quality people (not necessarily shots) into our syndicate.
Shooting will be undertaken by a minimum of two shooters working together with a designated "Lead Shooter" being responsible for that shoot and new members will have to run a six shoot probation with existing members before being able to apply for a lead shooters role on any of our permissions. If this all sounds over the top it is to ensure that as a syndicate we offer a top quality service and total peace of mind to the land owners that have offered us permission to shoot on their land.
If you are interested in joining our syndicate then please make yourself known in the shop, we do not accept e-mail or postal applications as we want to get to know people before submitting them to our syndicate. |
